This value set includes codes based on the following rules:

  • Include these codes as defined in http://terminology.hl7.org/CodeSystem/v3-EntityRisk
    CodeDisplayDefinition
AGGaggressiveA danger that can be associated with certain living subjects, including humans.
BIOBiologicalThe dangers associated with normal biological materials. I.e. potential risk of unknown infections. Routine biological materials from living subjects.
CORCorrosiveMaterial is corrosive and may cause severe injury to skin, mucous membranes and eyes. Avoid any unprotected contact.
ESCEscape RiskThe entity is at risk for escaping from containment or control.
INJinjury hazardMaterial is solid and sharp (e.g., cannulas). Dispose in hard container.
POIpoisonMaterial is poisonous to humans and/or animals. Special care must be taken to avoid incorporation, even of small amounts.
RADradioactiveMaterial is a source for ionizing radiation and must be handled with special care to avoid injury of those who handle it and to avoid environmental hazards.

Explanation of the columns that may appear on this page:

Level A few code lists that FHIR defines are hierarchical - each code is assigned a level. In this scheme, some codes are under other codes, and imply that the code they are under also applies
System The source of the definition of the code (when the value set draws in codes defined elsewhere)
Code The code (used as the code in the resource instance)
Display The display (used in the display element of a Coding). If there is no display, implementers should not simply display the code, but map the concept into their application
Definition An explanation of the meaning of the concept
Comments Additional notes about how to use the code
